You can remember when you first moved out of home and suddenly had to start fending for yourself can’t you? Just about?! One of the hardest parts of that was having to cook for yourself, everything else you could just about work out like cleaning the house or washing your clothes, but cooking is the hardest skill of them all to try and learn.
The best thing you can do for your own children or grandchildren is to buy them a microwave when they finally decide to fly the nest. With a microwave they will always be able to heat some baked beans or create a little bowl of chicken rice and peas.
The second best thing you can buy them is a book of microwave recipes for one, or even better a healthy microwave recipes book – that way you know that they stand a chance of getting their five a day!
Jokes aside, a microwave specific recipe book is a good shout as it can take a bit of getting used to doing your cooking in a microwave. Although they are very simple to use there are certain nuances that you’re best following instructions for, especially if it’s a combi model – make sure you get a bible of combi microwave recipes!
